Changes
There have been a lot of changes going on in my life recently. I just changed departments within my company. So I ended up changing bosses, locations, and responsibility.
With the website, there have been a lot of changes, What am I talking about? Well, let's take a little trip down memory lane first. The site's history.
This is what the page first looked like December 12, 2001. It didn't validate to anything or meet any standards of any kind. I wasn't even using blogger at that time. The font color was different, the page was in a three column layout, and the navigation bar was done using rollover images and a ton of JavaScript.
July 19, 2002. The site is now a 2-column layout, very reminiscent of the way it is now. I am also using blogger at the time. My navigation links are done using flash (although it isn't working using the archive version) but for those without flash, I had text links at the top. I also had a lot of JavaScript on the pages.
July 27, 2004 the pages are now in PHP. Allowed the maintenance of the pages a lot easier. Over the coming months, the guestbook and feedback forum would be moved from 3rd party services and done locally using PHP/MySQL.
And now, we have a new change. The entire website is completely XHTML 1.1 compliant. It is also completely made out of CSS.
Here are some differences.
Number of tables in old site - 1,100
Number of tables in new site - 18
File size of old site - 22mb
File size of new site - 21.7mb
That's just nice isn't it?
