The War On Christmas
Here is the 12/09/05 talking points from The O'Reilly Factor on Fox News.

Sears and Target see the Christmas Light

Sears and Target see the light, the Christmas light: that is the subject of this evening's "Talking Points Memo."

While the secular media continues to spout there is no Christmas controversy, in the real world, we have proved there is. More evidence:

Apparently Sears and Target, two operations that were not saying "Merry Christmas" have turned around and are now Christmas kind of people. That's not good news for the anti-Christmas forces.

Take a look at this cartoon in USA Today, which has been drifting left over the last years. It has a scary looking anchor man, probably me, shouting Christmas warnings. Then the cartoonist takes a shot at conservatives and says the whole thing is "faulty intelligence."

Well, that's the kind of thing we have seen over and over in the media. Today on the CBS News Radio with Christopher Glenn, he reported conservative Christians forced Speaker Hastert to call the Capitol Holiday tree a Christmas tree. Yes, those conservative Christians again. Oh.

Of course liberal Christians, Jews, atheists, all kinds of people are objecting to the diminishment of Christmas.

This is about respect. Banishing the words "Merry Christmas" is simply disrespectful to people who celebrate that federal holiday.

Out on Long Island, where I live, a politician actually interrupted a Catholic priest who was blessing a town Christmas tree. That was blatantly disrespectful. The politician, John Cayman, has since apologized, but really enough's enough. Christian Americans have a right to celebrate Christmas without being demeaned.

Some more examples. In Dodgeville, Wisconsin, the Ridgewood Elementary School has changed the song "Silent Night" to "Cold in the Night" and forced the kids to sing the lyrics, "Cold in the night, no one in sight, winter winds whirl and bite," to the tune of the original "Silent Night." Simply absurd.

Want another one? OK. In Plano, Texas, just north of Dallas, the school told students they couldn't wear red and green because they were Christmas colors. That's flat-out fascism. If I were a student in Plano, I'd be a walking Christmas tree after that order. --Have a little thing on my head.

"Talking Points" understands that you, the viewer, know what's going on here. The good news is we're actually winning. Nearly every time we embarrass the secular forces, they cave. Only a few stores are now banning "Merry Christmas." They are listed on billoreilly.com.

And once again, we're not going for a boycott or any other punitive action. We are defending Christmas. We are exposing people who are disrespecting the federal holiday and the media that covers it up. And we'll continue to do that.

And that's "The Memo."

I think that is one of the worst examples. Not allowed to wear Green or Red. That is one of the most pathetic and disturbing things I have heard in a long time.

Hurricanes
Wow! First Katrina, which I have not commented about. I just don't know what the say. The disaster was devistating. The one thing I find interesting: President Bush took full responsibility. Does he deserver *full* responsibility. Now I know there are Bush haters out there, but come on, no one person can control every aspect of everything that is happening in this country. I believe that there is blame to go around all over the place. The mayor of New Orleans waited to long to evacuate people. The federal government can't give aid until a state asks for it. So why did the governer wait so long? I think it shows what kind of man the President is. Now, tomorrow tonight, hurricane Rita is going to be bearing down on the coast. May God be with all those people.

Court orders KAZAA owners to block pirated content

A federal court ruled Monday that the popular file-swapping program Kazaa infringes on copyright and gave its purveyors two months to alter the system so its users can no longer engage in music piracy.

read more | digg story

This is just another example of a court getting their hands in something they don't understand. Yes, 99% of Kazaa users (I'm sure) use it for illegal means. However I just don't understand how technically it would be possible to stop this. Yet they have to come up with a way don't they. While they do, their users will just be migrating to the next Peer-to-peer client or BitTorrent or whatever the next greatest thing is that comes out. The RIAA will never be able to stop it, although they can subside it by lowering their prices. Their greed is going to do them in.

The Most Ridiculous Item of the Day
FOXNews.com - The O'Reilly Factor - Talking Points - Keeping the Record Straight on the Katrina Story: Our great ally France has offered the following in the wake of Katrina: 600 tents, 1,000 cots, some kitchen kits, 60 generators and 12 experts to advise the American Red Cross. --I hope they speak English.
Now I believe the 4-H Club of Bangor, Maine, has topped that offer."

Holidays
Well, I didn't get my snowflakes on the site in time for december like I normally do. Next year, I guess, anyways I did want to pass on a message of holiday cheer. Merry Christmas, that's right I said it. So sue me. Guess what, around here I saw a Nativity Scene on the courhouse lawn. I can't give the name of the city, because the ACLU (Anti-Christmas Losers Union) will sue the city.

Not one to bring down the holiday cheer, here are a couple of links.

Interesting...
I received this in an email and thought I would pass it along:

An Essay by Samuel Thompson

I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I don't agree with Darwin but I didn't go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his theory of evolution. Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game. So what's the Big Deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire Book of Acts. They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game.

"But it's a Christian prayer," some will argue. Yes, and this is the United States of America, a country founded on Christian principles. And we are in the Bible Belt. According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect -- somebody chanting Hare Krishna? If I went to a football game in Jerusalem, I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer. If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad, I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer. If I went to a ping pong match in China, I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha. And I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit. When in Rome...

"But what about the atheists?" is another argument. What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds. If that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer. Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations.

Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep. Our Bible tells us just to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying. God, help us. And if that last sentence offends you, well..........just sue me. The silent majority has been silent too long... it's time we let that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard, that the vast majority don't care what they want...it is time the majority rules!

It's time we tell them, you don't have to pray...you don't have to say the pledge of allegiance, you don't have to believe in God or attend services that honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your right...but by golly you are no longer going to take our rights away...we are fighting back...and we WILL WIN! After all the God you have the right to denounce is on our side!

God bless us one and all, especially those who denounce Him...God bless America, despite all her faults...still the greatest nation of all.....

May 2003 be the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions. Keep looking up......

In God WE Trust.

Dumb people.
I was driving to school the other day when I turned a corner and saw this car down the street a ways was blocking both lanes of traffic going my direction.

"Somebody must have stalled out," I said when I heard tires squeal. Then all of a sudden this car came out of nowhere and rammed the car that wasn't moving. It ricocheted off of the stalled car and hit another car that had his way blocked. So, right in front of me I see three cars bashed in. The one guy just slammed on the gas and rammed the other car at full speed on purpose.

It makes me wonder. Now I really don't know what was going through the "rammers" head, but I think it is plausible that they hit each other accidentally first. Out of anger he rammed the other guy again. Why do people do such stupid things? These bunch of teenagers then get out of their car. I am a teenager, and I know how to handle my anger. Why don't they know how? These days there is a lot of pressure on kids. I probably don't have to tell you that. But it makes me wonder. Were these kids ever taught how to deal with their anger? Everybody gets mad, I do, but I never cause harm to anybody else. (Especially an innocent bystander.)

Where are the parents to teach these kids how to deal with anger? Are they at work? Do they even care? So, who's job is it to teach kids. Not the schools. I don't want a school raising my kids should I have them some day. It is not their responsibility. It all comes back to parents. Now, most parents are good parents. They care about their kids, but I also think most parents are ignorant.

Think of this. Go through your kids CD's and find how many have parental advisory labels on them. Probably a lot. Look at the movies, and television shows your kids watch. Almost all promote, violence and sex out of wedlock. Am I blaming the media for the troubles of our society? No, but it sure doesn't help. My point is, until a person can figure out what is right and what isn't on their own, the parents should be doing it for them. I don't want to ban violent movies, games, and TV. I want parents to keep kids away from them. Until they grow up to know the difference.

What age is best? I personally believe that if you are asking that question then, you don't know your kid very well. Somebody might be saying that their kid is thirteen and knows the difference between fiction and nonfiction. Think though, every waking hour images of violence and sex is thrown at kids. Everyday, movie makers are pushing the limit of what they can do with the parental ratings. I wonder. I think a lot people in this world should stop what they are doing and think. Look at themselves. Do we want this to continue? Just watch your kids and what they are doing. I am fortunate that my parents watched me. I wouldn't be the person I am today if they didn't. Let's just take notice of what is happening around us.

It angers me when I see references to sex out of wedlock in movies and TV for no reason other than to have it in. AIDS is a worldwide epidemic, teen pregnancies are commonplace. When I went to middle school (6th and 7th grade) we had pregnant students. I didn't use to live in a city, I lived in a town. One that is a great neighborhood, with great schools. Still, they have the problem. The reason for these problems are because sex out of wedlock is a commonplace thing. Joked about on TV shows such as Friends. I watch Friends, I like it, but a lot of the references in it are not necessary for jokes. They measure relationship status with sex on that show. If a person hasn't slept with their partner yet, the relationship isn't going to good. I was watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer the other day, which is another show I like. One scene they had a girl on a guy. In a position that is normally reserved for. . . You could clearly tell they were naked even though they were not showing anything. There was no reason for that image to be pressed in everybody's head. For the plot, if they wanted to show that these two people were together, all they had to do was have them kissing. Both of these shows are watched by you teenagers and pre-teens across the country.

If kids stop having sex, then babies being dumped in dumpster will go away, the issue of abortion will go (almost) away. Why, because less and less kids will be having kids. Doing a quick search on google, I found out that the number of kids (15 years old and less) having abortions was 667 for every one thousand regular births. I am against abortion, but if kids were not having sex, there wouldn't have any reason for an abortion, thus the problem isn't as big of a problem as it is now. If you factor in the age group 15-19 then the ratio is 339.

Anyways, you are probably wondering why I went from a car wreck to this. I don't know either. I needed to blow of a little steam I guess. No matter, I still believe what I wrote here, if you don't agree with me, that is fine. If you do agree with me that is fine too. That is just my 2 cents. Take it or leave it.

Well, I done did it. I finallly gradeated from that there darn school I go to. I feel like I have learned alot. Now, wheres the beer? (I'm just kiddin'.) The Baccalaureate service was the 28th and graduation was the 29th. Those services reminded me that God will always be with us. Through thick and thin. After we went to graduation some of us graduates went to the Senior Salute. Which is basically a big party sponsored by the school to keep the kids from going to their own wild parties. It went on from 10:30 pm to 5:30 am the next morning. If you stayed the whole night you were guaranteed a prize. They gave away several DVD players, TVs, stereos, microwaves, and some other stuff. That is what all my friends got. I got a phone... anyway... dirty rotten... no, I'm just kiddin' beggars can't be choosers (or something). They also gave us fake money and we went gamblin' with it. I stayed at the Roulette table most of the night. Did pretty good. Although I don't know how much money I started with, I ended up with about $7,000. That allowed us to buy raffle tickets for a chance to win another prize. I didn't get anything from that. Boy, I tell you what though. I sure was tired. Living in a town of 10,000 people it is hard to get loss. I swear when I was leaving the community center I didn't know if I was suppose to turn left or right. I guessed correctly. I came home, and crawled right into bed. That is after my dad asked me to go to work with him. He has to get up at about 5:30 am in the morning. He has to go work in the oil fields. Which is what drives this community and supports the multimillion dollar businesses that are in it. Anyways, I'm ramblin'. What I was going to say is that I finally passed a high hurdle in my life. I guess I am ready for the higher ones now.

By the way, while I just shortly before I started righting this, some kids decided to set our garbage dumpster on fire. I didn't even know it until the firemen were already here.
It probably got our wooden fence a little burnt too. I don't know what it is with people that makes them think that stuff is funny. There is a power line pole right next to it. I think that caught on fire too. If the fire fighters hadn't come in time, we could of have live wires on the ground. Furthermore, our shed nearby could have caught fire. Where we would have lost a lot of stuff in, plus we keep gasonline and other chemicals around that thing. Somebody could have gotten seriously hurt. What is the world coming to. Which also reminds me of something that happened during graduation. As soon as it was over, a bunch of the kids took out big cigars and lit up. I mean come on. I even heard one of the kids (And I do mean kids, because that is what a lot of them still act like.) talking on the phone to his mom. He was upset with her because she couldn't find him to give him his cigars. That kind of stuff just frustrates me. Some of you parents out there, (Some of you are good parents, some of you are not.) need to get your act together. I mean, you are rasing the world's future. Our whole society is deteriorating because of behavior like this. Now, before you start thinking I am a nut case because I am talking about the end of the world because some kids smoked cigars just hold on a second. It is the little things that matter. If adults don't know how to act proper, how will the younger generation know. Show some responsibility in everything you do. Remember, there is always somebody that is going to be affected by your actions and the choices you make. And also remember that there is somebody that is always looking at you as well.

On another topic, I thought I would just tell you about the continuing saga of wacky weather around here. Today the wind blew. About 80 miles away, where my uncle lives they had 70 mph winds. They told everyone to stay indoors so they wouldn't get hit by flying debris. He couldn't even see the highway that is about a block away from him because of all the dirt blowing. Golly.

Bill is back again with his latest article, Let's Misbehave

Perhaps the most profound change in American society over the past 40 years is how bad behavior is processed. When I grew up in the 1960s, bad boys and girls were usually held accountable for their misbehavior, punishment was almost a lock, and very few scandals resulted in profit participation.

Today, all that has changed. In the latest of a long line of rewards for questionable activity, Monica Lewinsky has been hired to host a prime-time television program called "Mr. Personality." Since Ms. Lewinsky has no prior TV experience, one can assume that the only reason she is doing "Mr. Personality" is that she did Mr. Personality, if you know what I mean. Monica's employment follows a long list of people who have profited from notorious incidents. G. Gordon Liddy has a syndicated radio show, Oliver North works for Fox News, Wynona Ryder is doing commercials fresh off her shoplifting conviction, Robert Downey Jr. got a role on "Ally McBeal" right out of drug rehab. The list goes on and on.

Even Paula Jones, who made a federal case out of sexual harassment allegations against then Governor Bill Clinton, was paid six figures for showing her figure in Penthouse magazine. After seeing those pictures I wanted to sue for sexual harassment.

Jessica Hahn and Tonya Harding also made some good money in the aftermath of their scandals. Many rappers will tell you the more they are busted by the police, the bigger their recording contracts. R. Kelly has a hit album after being charged with sexually abusing a minor. The message here is that American society really doesn't care how anyone behaves and that some in corporate America will reward tawdry behavior all day long. Believe me, this situation is not lost on children. They see Monica scoring in the media, and they know exactly how the play was made. Surely TV programs starring Anna Nicole Smith and Ms. Lewinsky send a signal that the USA is a place where hard work doesn't really matter if you are ready to marry an 89-year-old guy or exceed your internship job description.

While it is true that we Americans love a story of redemption, contrition is not needed to capitalize on scandal. Few of the infamous ever admit wrongdoing, and it is certainly not required by those who hire them. No, the only thing that is required is a famous name, and it really doesn't matter how you become famous just as long as you are.

You would think that the National Organization for Women (NOW) would be outraged over Monica's "Mr. Personality" gig. First of all, aren't there any women in America who are actually qualified to host a reality program of this kind? Who actually worked for years developing communications skills? Where is NOW on this?

In fact, where is anybody on this? I know these TV programs are culturally insignificant, but there is a larger issue here. Isn't there?

Unfortunately, very few of us care about the issue. Americans are numb to tawdry actions because we see so much of them and the celebration of boorishness has now been elevated to a level the decadent Roman emperors would have enjoyed. The result is that America unquestionably has become a coarse society, a country where crude can be very profitable. And we're not talking oil here.

File the hiring of the infamous under freedom of expression. The Constitution gives us all the right to profit from our mistakes. And never has the business of bad behavior been better.

We Stand on Guard for Thee
Another one from Bill.

Oh, Canada, what the heck is going on? In a staggering display of in-your-face defiance, the Canadian government now says it will not turn over any members of Saddam Hussein's crew should they eventually show up in Canada to the United States, including the evil dictator himself! Canadian Minister of Defense John McCallum bluntly told the world that his government would only give Saddam to the World Court in The Hague.

This non-provoked belligerence comes after Prime Minister Jean Chretien gleefully pilloried the Bush administration over fighting Iraq every chance he got. Chretien and his cohorts have made no secret of their disdain for Mr. Bush, and the Canadian press has generally been brutal to America in portraying the war.

In response, President Bush has canceled his May trip to Ottawa, and it would be wise not to send him an autographed picture of the Montreal Canadian hockey team anytime soon. That's because Montreal fans recently booed the national anthem before a match with the New York Islanders, causing some angst among American hockey fans, who are not generally known for being too accepting of that kind of display.

But it doesn't end there. When a group of Boston kids went up to Montreal to play in a peewee hockey tournament, they were not only taunted by the Canadian kids, but also by the referees. Eh?

My question is this: Do the Canadian people have any idea how close they are to serious pain here?

Canada's economy is utterly dependent on the United States, and Americans pump more than $10 billion directly into it every year. Nine million of us cross the northern border more than 40 million times annually, and we buy lots of stuff. And that stuff is heavily taxed by the tax-and-spend Canadian government. So what happens if we all emulate Mr. Bush and just say no to the land of snow?

Canada's economy melts, that's what happens.

A loosely organized boycott of French goods by some Americans has brought immediate pain to the wine and travel industries in that country, according to business titans in Paris. One analyst told me that French wine consumption in the USA is down 10 percent, and travel to Paris is off by more than 20 percent with almost record low bookings for the upcoming summer. Since the French economy was growing at just 1 percent before Jacques Chirac began his quest to embarrass America, a French recession is now likely.

If the same economic pressure were applied to Canada, the results would be much more intense. Simply put, if Americans cut back doing business with Canadians, that country could go into a depression.

And herein lies the problem. Most Americans are not mean people and don't want to hurt working-class Canadians. It is Chretien who's the problem, and he's out of office in less than a year. But, there comes a point when enough is enough, and Canadians should understand that storm clouds are gathering to the south. Humiliating American kids in a hockey rink is simply not acceptable. Thumbing your nose at 127 dead Americans in Iraq by making defiant statements about where Saddam should be extradited is not a wise policy.

Millions of Americans are beginning to realize that their buying power is not only a democratic choice but can be used as a weapon against people who are hostile to us. No American is under any obligation to buy any product, foreign or domestic. I'm sure the Molson beer people understand that Budweiser fits in the cooler as well.

So I am giving the haughty Jean Chretien one more chance because I have always liked and respected the Canadian people. I am not going to travel north this summer, but I'm not boycotting Canadian products as I am with France. But hear this Mr. Prime Minister: One more cheap shot, one more unnecessary taunt, one more insult directed at the USA by you or your minions, and I'll give you a very accurate long-range forecast. It's gonna get mighty cold mighty fast west of the St. Lawrence.

Finally some news.

When the Truth is a Casualty
Is Bill right, or is he right.

Perhaps the most disconcerting thing about the Iraqi war press coverage has been the misleading headlines that have appeared in some major American newspapers. The words "fierce fighting" and "ferocious resistance" have been used time and time again to describe the Iraqi performance on the battlefield. On more than one occasion, I thought I was reading about Stalingrad or Iwo Jima. But there was always one major problem with all the articles: American and British casualties have been light -- very light.

It is, of course, very difficult to know the truth about specific battles because even the "imbedded" reporters are often kept away from the direct action for their own safety. And unfortunately, many in the American media hype stories all over the place in order to attract readers and viewers. Can you imagine the reporting on the atomic bombing of Hiroshima today? I can't.

Also, some media outlets want the war in Iraq to go poorly for the Bush administration for political reasons. Thus, the more chaos and uncertainty that war headlines and stories can produce, the better the ultimate outcome will be as far as they're concerned. These ideologues masquerading as news people are hoping for a Pyrrhic victory so that the hawks will not gain power and prestige.

I deeply resent that kind of game playing with news, especially concerning a story that is vitally important to all Americans. So in this column I am going to do something about it. A few days ago, I was handed an email from the Iraqi front. It came from a U.S. Army colonel in the Third Infantry Division. He is deeply angered over much of the reporting he is seeing in the American media. I have to protect his identity because the Pentagon does not like its officers going off the reservation and providing journalists like me this kind of perspective.

The following is what his email said: "The Third (31D) is making history here. In the past 48 hours, we have destroyed two (Iraqi) divisions, and six other divisions decided not to fight or have formally capitulated. Of course, this is never reported in the news. I do daily air recon in a Blackhawk escorted by Apaches, and we have probably killed close to 10,000 (Iraqi soldiers). We are continuously sniped at and receive periodic mortar fire. Bottom line, they shoot -- they die. Every American soldier (here) is getting a chance to engage and kill the enemy.

"Iraq has these maniacs, death squad guys called Saddam Feddyen, DGS forces, IIS, and Ba'ath Party forces that we spend most of our day killing. They continuously make suicidal charges at our tanks, brads (fighting vehicles) and checkpoints. We are happy to send them to hell. You would not believe the carnage. Imagine body parts about knee deep, with hundreds of (Iraqi) vehicles burning, occupants inside. We fill up trucks with body parts daily.

"The plan is going exactly as scripted. The news is full of s---. We have almost total control. Don't know how much longer the division can keep up this pace, but we are prepared to do it."

Compare that account with what you are reading in the papers and hearing on the television news. Does it compute? If it doesn't, then your news outlet may not be doing its job.

The email I quoted is genuine in every way. It was not solicited, it was not hyped. It is an eyewitness report from an American field commander who wants you to know what your military is experiencing.
